FDA regulations for HGH

The HGH treatment was accepted in the 1950’s. A synthetic form of HGH was created and was made available only on prescription by the doctor. The Food and Drug administration or FDA was established in 1930 to regulate the medical products which consisted of 25% of the gross products sold.

The FDA is an agency located in the United States. It is responsible for protecting and promoting health of the public with the help of regulations. They also monitor food safety, tobacco products, dietary supplements and medicines that are sold in pharmacies.

Since the advent of HGH, the FDA regulations have approved HGH treatment only for the following conditions:
• HGH deficiency
• Turner’s syndrome
• Chronic renal insufficiency
• Growth retardation
• Prader-willi syndrome
• Height shortage even at puberty
• Cachexia

The FDA has not approved any other medical use of the HGH. Some doctors use HGH as a treatment for fatigue, obesity and fibromyalgia. However, FDA regulations do not authenticate these purposes until they complete their research on this.

According to the FDA regulations, selling of the growth hormone supplements without prescription is illegal. Section 101F of the US Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetics Act prohibits the possession or selling this drug with the purpose of treating a medical condition unless it is approved by the FDA regulations.

Even the sale of homeopathic HGH supplements as over the counter products is illegal, as stated in the Compliance Policy Guide from the FDA regulations Section 400.400.

Many companies use the human growth hormone injection’s data and relate it to the homeopathic over the counter products. Such an act is considered as a violation of the FDA regulations and the Federal Trade Commission regulations and is labeled as misbranding. The FDA regulations call for presenting correct information based on the exact product being sold. These products may sound good in ads, but there are very few things common in the actual products and might not have evidence that these products work.
